Priceless

Cost of Spanish Fork Dodge Ball Tournament: $6.50
Chance to see 20 to 30-something men with hot tempers, who were mostly dishonest, who made me question if Spanish Fork really is made up of a bunch of hicks with egos bigger than the trucks they drive: Priceless
Congratulations to the Ball Evaders who took 2nd place out of 20 teams! Benjamin, Nate's brother, said that their team had the disadvantage because it was made up of mostly seminary teachers and they were honest where others were not. Look how far you can make it when you are doing the right thing!
You may have seen them on Spanish Fork Channel 17 or even in the Spanish Fork newspaper.
Nathan has been sore the last couple of days and has made Icy-Hot his new best friend.

Are You Ready to Learn?

Okay. I am looking for a couple of Mom's who want to come with me to a way awesome class. Anyone? Anyone? Buhler? Okay let me fill you in... It is a class called "Ready to Learn". When: November 10th at 7pm (we get out about 8:15ish)... and the second Tuesday of every month after that! You don' have to commit, just come to see if you like it. Where: Spanish Fork Macey's Little Theater How to Sign Up: Call Macey's Service Desk (801-798-9803). Heck, leave me a comment and I will call for you. This is such a great class. I have already been twice. Every month a new topic is discussed on how you can get your 0-8 year olds to be better readers. Now who doesn't want that? The first class you attend you receive a workbook and an instruction book. You also get a free children's book and sometimes even win a book (or two.) The best part of this is that it is FREE-NINETY-FREE! Check out the books I brought home. (Keep in mind I have only attended 2 classes.) Oh, are you sad that Spanish Fork is too far away? Check it out. There are different places and dates where you can attend the class. Check it out here.

Feasting on the Word... and other Yummy things

I love General Conference. It is so great to hear from the prophet and the apostles. The one thing that I was most excited about was the President Monson announced that there would be a temple built in Fortaleza, Brazil. Nathan served his mission there and took me back there 3 years ago. I was so happy that those people would have access to the temple (especially a family named the Silvas) that I started to cry. Now I am not a crier and Scout had no clue what was going on with me. He climbed up on my lap as fast as he could and started wiping away my tears. The European vacation is no more in the plans. We need to save up to go to the temple in Fortaleza. It was such good news!!!! Nathan and I like to wake up and make breakfast before conference starts. On Saturday he woke up and made us German pancakes. On Sunday Scout and I made whole wheat pancakes. Scout loves to help me make anything in the kitchen. He is pretty good about pouring things in the bowl, but there are also times when he is much too helpful and wants to do it all. He thinks he needs to taste everything! So those who know Scout he has some pretty strange eating habits. He like to eat something and then usually in the middle of the meal will spit it out and not want to have anything to do with it. I never know what he will and won't eat because it just depends on the day. There is a short list of things we know he will inhale without throwing a fit... mandarin oranges, yogurt, and pancakes. He must of been really hungry for pancakes because here he is eating his 6th pancake. It was like he was at IHOP during the All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Spectacular. He out-ate Nathan and I. In fact he out-ate Nathan and my combined totals. Later that day we made No Bake Cookies. Of course he was back in the kitchen helping again. Thanks to the Bulters and a Nutter Butter I give Scout peanut butter. He can't get enough. It was a good weekend to feast!

And so it begins...

... college football season, that is. For some odd reason I take comfort in it.

Parenting

Today has been one of those days where I am searching the Internet for parenting books. I don't know if the child has driven me to it or the 1 hour nap (which is usually a 2-3 hour one). If I had enough duct tape I would have tried this out, but left the stuffed animal on the ground.

Childhood

This summer seemed like the time when Scout went from a baby to a little boy. Here is proof... He went from rattles to drills. He is fascinated by tools. Don't call social services on me because I let my child play with power tools. video They make 4-Wheelers that are his size. Can he really be that big? (Grandpa DeWayne, can you guess what sound he is making?)

I had to buy him new shoes because the size 4 shoes would not fit on the size 6 feet. Church pants are next on the shopping list. He can't impress the girls in nursery with floods on. He's shaving.
He even does his own stunts. video (At the end of this video he found a screw in the table and used his finger as a drill.)

In his own time...

With so many stories from Nathan's mom that he started walking at 9 months I was nervous that Scout would do the same. Little did I know that my baby came with an stubborn streak and a temper. He constantly lets us know that he does things on his own schedule. Monday was the day he woke up and decided that it was going to be the day he was going to walk (...it is about time; he is 16 months old.) I was starting to get worried that he would go into nursery and still be crawling. Just another way of Scout telling us, "I do what I want." (That has got to curbed before he is a teenager!) He is cruising around everywhere now. video

Rain or Shine (or sleep) the Show Must Go On

Last week we went to the Manti pageant. This was probably my first time going to it that I didn't fall asleep. I can't say that for Scout. He was awake long enough to see the Samuel the Lamanite scene (hopefully one of his favorites... that is who he is named after) and the scene with all the fire coming out of the rocks. Before the pageant he had his first taste of funnel cake... loved it. Excuse the pajamas. We didn't decide to go until he was already for bed and we figured it would be easier to just put the tired child in bed right when we got home. I told you he would be tired.

Where did the month of May go?

The month of May was taken up by packing all of our stuff and labeling it whether or not it goes in the storage shed or to Grandma's house. Have you ever packed boxes with a one year old? I am telling you here and now that he can take things out three times faster than I could put stuff in. Here is the little squirt "helping" me clean out the freezer. We said goodbye to this house...

...and moved into one that is 50 minutes from Nathan's work. He doesn't seem to mind the commute, but we are only one week into it. Scout is loving every minute of the new house. He wakes up every morning wanting to see Grandma's dog.

We celebrated our 6 year anniversary with Nathan surprising me and taking me to the Zermatt Spa and Resort in Midway. I had no clue about it until he started driving the wrong way home after work. The next day I got my haircut (which is huge for me). I donated it to locks of love.

Then knee surgery. Don't I look sexy with my elephant leg and greasy hair!

Favorite Pictures

Every once in awhile do you ever take a picture and it becomes your favorite picture? You use it as your desktop wallpaper. You may even print it out and stick it in a frame. These are my favorite pictures lately...

This one just screams little boy to me. He has a sucker in one hand, getting drenched by his own sticky saliva. If you look inside that same hand you can see the outcome of crawling around the garage floor. The look on his face seems to say, "What? Do you have a problem with this?"
I love his smile in this one. Love those little chompers.

N8's Birthday Party

First, I want to thank all the friends who came to N8's party. He had so much fun! We loved spending time with you and your kids. Second, I want to yell at all the people who came to N8's party! Why didn't any of you say that your hamburgers were plain? I went to the store that day just to pick up lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and pickles. I spent the day cutting them up, putting them in their own containers, I even set out a fork for people to use. Now look what I have in my fridge. Curse you people!

Easters

I know I am late posting this, but hey, I'm posting right? We had an awesome Easter. I must admit holidays are more fun when you have a kid. We went to Grandma Tracy's on Saturday and had an egg "pick-up." Instead of hiding the eggs, they were just placed on the lawn for the kids to pick them up. It was fantastic! Scout really didn't get it and was more interested in using the eggs as a ball. In order for him to pick up the eggs and put them in the basket I had to sing the "clean up" song. He knew exactly what to do then. This is Scout's cousin, Connor. What a stud!
This is Maddy. Look at those beautiful blue eyes! This is Matt. He is so full of energy! Then on Sunday we went to Grandma Jene's house. Uncle Tyson hid the eggs. I vote that he no longer gets to hide the eggs. The adults could not even find them*. At least he didn't hide them out behind the house... keep in mind that the back yard is 4 acres of field. This is usually where they are hid, but since little ones are part of the fun they were hid in the front yard. Inside the eggs are numbers (instead of candy). When we think we have found them all we go back in the house to find out what prize corresponds to what number. It is a riot to see what you have "won." *A week later we went back to Grandma Jene's to hang out and Scout was hanging out on the porch. He crawled over to the corner and behind a decoration he pulled out a missing easter egg.
Scout loves his Uncle Tyson.

Dad with his numbers, waiting for his easter prizes.

Aren't you Smart!?!

I think I am pretty smart. Graduated college, pretty good at problem solving, creative, can put together an Excel spreadsheet... but my goodness, do I ever feel stupid when I am trying to leave a comment on someone's blog and I need to type in the word verification and I get it wrong.
